ANISH PONNA
President
Year: Junior
Major: Biological Sciences
Minor: Psychology
Anish joined PhiDE in the fall of his freshman year as part of Iota class. PhiDE has introduced him to so many pre-medical students who come from all walks of life and shown him how different everyone’s journeys are on their paths to becoming physicians. He is thankful for the mentorship and lifelong friends that PhiDE has provided. Anish formerly served as the Vice President of Recruitment in 2021 and is excited to lead our chapter forward this coming year. His favorite part of PhiDE is big/little and loves his entire lineage “phamily”.
Outside of PhiDE, Anish is a research assistant in the Lane Lab at Drexel University College of Medicine where he is investigating how to enhance neuroplasticity after spinal cord injury to improve respiration recovery and rehabilitation. Anish is part of the Combined BS/MD Program and plans on attending Drexel University College of Medicine beginning in the fall of 2023.
